Frequently Asked Questions
What is considered a business day?
A business day (or workday) is any official working day, conventionally Monday through Friday. It excludes standard weekend days (Saturday and Sunday) and official public or federal holidays.
How do you calculate business days from a specific date?
Select your starting date, specify the number of days to add or subtract, and choose the operation. The calculator steps forward or backward across the calendar, skipping weekends and customized holidays to give you the precise calendar date.
Does a business day include Saturday and Sunday?
Standard business days exclude Saturday and Sunday. However, this calculator lets you customize your workweek. You can check or uncheck individual days (Monday through Sunday) to support alternative work schedules, such as Sunday–Thursday workweeks or 6-day workweeks.
Does the start date count as a business day?
In most contracts, shipping agreements, and financial transactions, the day an action occurs is considered Day 0, with business day counting beginning on the following working day. If your terms require counting the initial day, simply enable the 'Count the start date if it is a business day' toggle.
How do I exclude holidays from the calculation?
Enter your holiday dates in the 'Holiday Dates' text box using standard YYYY-MM-DD format (separated by commas or line breaks). Any specified holiday that falls on a scheduled business day is omitted from the workday calculation.
